Hutchison Ports Belgium congratulates Atlas Copco Airpower on the 75.000th container it has shipped via barge from Willebroek to the port of Antwerp. By doing so, Atlas Copco avoids 200.000 road kilometers every year. We are proud that Atlas Copco has been a partner in the realization of sustainable goods transport for many years.
As a hub between the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam and the Belgian and Northern French hinterland, we have been offering our customers the opportunity to handle their goods sustainably via inland shipping for more than 20 years.
Hutchison Ports Belgium is part of Hutchison Ports, one of the largest terminal operators in the world. Hutchison Ports is officially committed to both short-term goals and zero-emission targets in line with the zero-emission standard of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and is part of the ‘Business Ambition for 1.5°C‘ and ‘Race to Zero’ campaigns.
Martine Hiel, managing director Hutchison Ports Belgium: "We are happy to work with partners towards a zero-emission future. The cooperation with a progressive company like Atlas Copco Airpower gives us the opportunity to work more and more sustainably ourselves. We are therefore looking forward to the pilot project with battery containers for use on electrically powered barges."
